Paul Your boat is the standard C&C 34. Do you recall the previous name of the boat or even better the sail number? It may already have a PHRF-LO certificate from previous owner that will give you the best idea.
The base handicap for your boat in Lake Ontario as listed in their 2014 submission to US Sailing is 141. A base handicap assumes the C&C 34 has its largest headsail up to 155%, a symmetric spinnaker, folding or feathering prop. Any changes to inventory such as smaller or larger headsails, no spinnaker or asymmetric only, fix props, cruising credits etc are handled by adjusting from the base of 141 With your sail number or even the previous boat name you may be able to search PHRF-LO for the last issued certificate for your boat. Another good source would be to search for the boat name in past race results (presuming the boat was raced) Have fun!
