Very true. In north america one couldn't buy the parts for 11 bucks, let alone
add the labor $$ and some profit.

I rarely involve The Admiral in anchoring, but when I do I just use hand
signals. Radios seem overkill for this.
By the way, the endless variety of Baofeng (sp?) radios available for cheap are
not legal for this use. Not that this stops anyone, but they aren’t. They are
legally usable as ham
