Blue Sea calculates that for a 100amp load 2 conductors and 10 feet in the
engine room you need 2 AWG - roughly 1/4 inch diameter. Seems on the small
side compared to what I have but I wouldn't get too upset. Follow the
calcs.

Voltage drop from 12 to 8 when cranking or idle? I agree, check all the
connections for corrosion and tightness including the battery terminals.

has an amp capacity of 40! For the amperage you need ABYC says 18 gauge, so
somewhere in between is where I'd be.
