Moisture has reinvigorated the eastern plains. Yesterday and today I ran two
Breeding Bird Surveys, one in Washingon County, the other in Yuma County. Along
with other BBS volunteers last summer, I reported that Lark Bunting numbers

The Red-throated Loon that has been at Brush Hollow Reservoir (Fremont County)
since May 19 was seen this morning by Nick Komar and myself. I have a few

We also have house wrens nesting in our box for the second year in a row. We
live on open space in western Highlands Ranch. Last year a pair had great
success with about 5 fledglings.

I've had some pretty wacked out species in my backyard the
last two weeks in suburban Louisville (the weather have something to
do with this?): a singing spotted towhee, a singing hermit thrush,
and this morning (Monday) at 6 to 6:30 a.m. a singing OVENBIRD. The
bird sang for

I checked the start of the trail in Gregory Canyon this morning (6/8)
between 5:30 AM until just after 6 AM and did not hear or see the
Kentucky Warbler. Things were fairly quiet with only local breeders
singing.
