Do Black Swifts migrate in groups? Do they soar in migration? If
so, the dozen black colored, swift-like birds that passed high over my
house about 15 minutes ago (7:45) were probably Black Swifts.

This morning while conducting a survey for RMBO I found two Indigo Buntings
along the Colorado River (one in Colorado and one in Utah). Both were
singing in riparian habitat along the river. It was very easy to document
breeding by several species - Western Kingbird, Northern Mockingbird, Common
This seems like a banner year for Lark Buntings in northern Colorado. On and
Friday June 5 I conducted my BBS route in Weld County, which begins 7 miles
north of Nunn at the junction of 114 Rd and Hwy 85 and heads east and north
from there. I counted 601 Lark Buntings across 50 stops, the most
When doing my BBS Edison School Route this year I was impressed with higher
number of Cassin's Sparrows.
Compared to last year when there were almost no Lark Buntings, there were more,
but not up to usual census.
I found Mountain Plover in three new places :)
But no Burrowing Owls :(
