There is a Great Horned Owl nest east of Handle and Baggett roads, which is east of Ellicott and south off of Hwy 94 and the Baggett intersection (just east of mile marker 19). It was quite a surprise to see an owl in the nest, as it has always been used by Red-tailed Hawks - or so I thought.

Hi all, Just checked a Northern Saw-whet Owl nest and found two chicks and three eggs. My guess is that the first egg hatched on the 13th and the other hatched this morning because the egg shell was still in the nest box in large sections. Also in the box were two whole Deer Mice and three

[cobirds] Fledged Mourning Doves, April 13-15, 2010, Fort Collins

Cobirders: On April 13, 2010, I observed two adult Mourning Doves with two fledglings in our backyard. Again on the 14th, one fledgling. This evening (April 15), June and I saw one fledgling with one adult, and I was able to photograph them. All observations were of birds feeding on the lawn.
