Birders,
Today I took a friend to the grasslands in search of a Mountain Plover, and
actually found one. It was in a plowed field on the south side of the road
west of Grover and east of WCR 77. There were some piles of dirt by the
gate to the field. It was at the south end of the field.

I had a great, amusing look this morning near US 85 and Titan Road of
a Juvenile Cooper's Hawk wanting really badly to take down a squirrel
that was fearlessly sharing a split-rail fence with it. The squirrel
was much more concerned with the huge walnut he'd found than the

First thing this morning I was able to relocate the Reddish Egret (White Morph)
in the same location described by Duane Nelson yesterday in Bent County. At
about noon Duane and I was also able to locate it almost exactly where I last
saw it in the morning. Great find Duane!! Other interesting bi

Birders,
Yesterday, Wednesday, I stopped by Timnath Reservoir for about an hour at
11:15. There had been quite a turnover in birds in one day.
On Tuesday there had been quite a few Long-billed Dowitchers and a couple of
Short-billed and no Greater Yellowlegs. Yesterday there were no Dowitchers
Birders,
Is anyone presently seeing Black Swifts anywhere?
I have a friend from Chicago coming out today and that is one of his target
birds.
I saw the earlier posts but nothing for about a week.
Thanks

As of 08/18/2010 the Common Loon is still at Daigre Lake State
Wildlife Area. Location is 1 mile East of La Veta on County Road 358.
Not many appear to be interested...but it is very unusual for there to
be a Common Loon here at this time of year.
