I agree with your obsevations about the neck, chin and uniformity of the facial
design. I did not note the exact cap color. The rust on the sides of the neck

Folks,
Kathy Mimm-Dunning and I found a second Red-necked Grebe at Cherry Creek,
associating with the hundreds of Western Grebes out in the middle of the lake.
This bird looks like an adult, basic plumage bird.
We also studied the Red-necked Grebe that remains at the duck pond, just across

Folks,
Cole Wild reports he, Duane Nelson and Nick Komar found a Henslow's Sparrow, a
probable Nelson's Sparrow and a flyover Smith's Longspur from John Martin
Reservoir, Bent County. The birds are in the vicinity of the white morph,
Reddish Egret which is also there. Details to follow.
The DFO sponsored Big Sit will be held Dawn to Dusk at the Heronry
Overlook at Chatfield State Park. Follow the signs to the Heronry parking
lot (just south of the Campground). Come for an hour or stay all day.
Bring your own bins, snacks, lunch, etc. State Parks will bring some
munchies and I
Cobirders,

From Road JJ (one mile south of US 50), turn south just east of Bent
County
Red-necked Grebe still at Cherry Creek at 4:15 - 4:30 today. Link to photos

dislodge it.

Hi Birders,
Banded 24 birds; caught our FOS Brown Creeper, a Gambel’s White-crowned Sparrow
that I banded in 2007 and……..another Winter Wren!
Had a great time with a group led by Norm Lewis, debating things like age, sex
and even species on several sparrows.
Here’s the breakdown:
