In looking at my poor photos, I believe that the plover at Jumbo was
just a very brightly marked American Golden Plover and NOT a Pacific
Golden Plover.

Hi CoBirders!
The cooler weather brought in a few more birds than we've been seeing, plus
one new one for the fall:
Sharp-shinned Hawk- 1
House Wren- 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet- 4
Hermit Thrush- 7
Gray Catbird- 3
Brown Thrasher- 2
Orange-crowned Warbler- 3
Magnolia Warbler- 1
Ovenbird- 1
Common Yello
I took this picture back in the spring and at the time I thought it
was a juvenile Cooper's hawk. I now think it is a juvenile sharp-
shinned hawk due to the relatively broad brown streaks on the chest.

Kathy Mihm-Dunning, Connie and Rick Steinkamp and I headed up to NE Colorado
today. The water level at Jumbo Reservoir is increasing, but still there
were a few shorebirds present including an interesting Golden Plover, likely
an American. The bird had a "yellowish buff" colored face and the spot

Hello birders,
I spotted an Ammodramus sparrow this afternoon that has potential for a
Nelson's Sparrow. I flushed it from a patch of saltgrass and it flew into a
dense teasel stand among some cattails and sedges. I only had a naked eye view
as it flew the 15 m or so. What was obvious was an oc

We had another slow week of banding in Grand Junction, and today was the
first day that we caught no birds at all. Over the course of the week we
did add several new species to our season list, which now includes: Wilson's
Warbler, White-crowned Sparrow, Black-capped Chickadee, Bewick's Wren,

COBirders,
I first heard, then saw, then photographed a very cooperative (for that
species) Sedge Wren about 50 feet from where I found a LeConte's Sparrow
(September 17) in a wet sedge meadow surrounded by scattered Russian olives
where the Upper Twin Pond Dam bends 90 degrees south. I was wa

At about 8 am, there were 2 SANDHILL CRANES lounging at the south end of
Baseline Reservoir. No sign of the Caspian Terns from yesterday.

Had my FOS non-gray-headed junco here at my home in Teller county on Monday,
9/26. It was a brief look, but seemed smallish; as if belonging to the
Oregon group instead of mearnsi. There were many gray-headed around, and I
think its larger size would have stuck out if it were pink-sided.
