The Pueblo CBC was held today. A fresh 8 inches of snow last night, and icy
and snowy roads made for low turnout of people (six people total). It looks
like 71 species of birds and 7770 total birds were counted (last year a record
108 species were found). These totals from today may change a

Credit for the Snowy Owl must be shared with Tim Henson who was doing
the Sterling CBC with me this morning and spotted the bird first.
Fortunately, Tim had his camera with him (mine was sitting in Denver),
so he captured some photos which will be suitable for documentation.

In a mid-day visit to Barr Lake State Park, Bob Righter and I counted 72 Bald
Eagles. They were concentrated mostly around the south end of the lake where
there is significant open water. An impressive sight.

wait a couple of days and report the sighting to the nearest ranger and
put it in the newspaper a few days after that, then report it to
eBird.

Connie Steinkamp reports ANOTHER Snowy Owl on the ice at Jumbo Reservoir. She
says this bird is whiter than the Sterling bird, possibly an adult.

is still present @ 11:15. Bird is ca. 1/2mi. west of Logan CR 33 on CR 44.
Look N. a few hundred yards, in vicinity of low-lying drainage.

Hi all:
I have finally gotten the solution to the CFO Photo Quiz from two weeks ago
posted (www.cfobirds.org); work always seems to get in the way of the things
that I really want to do! The last quiz of the year is up now, and will run
through the year, with answers due by midnight, 1 Jan 201
A hardy 10 individuals braved the minus 17 degrees temps and headed out to
conduct the 54th Monte Vista Refuge count.Weather included clear to dense fog.
Because of heavy recent snows, I was unable to take my team to the foothills,
and so we missed many birds that would normally be counted (like

Kathy Mihm-Dunning just called to report a SNOWY OWL along Logan County
Road 44, west of CR 33. This is north of Sterling near North Sterling State
Park.
Looks like Snowies have finally made it to Colorado
