I slept outside near Dry Creek, Colorado Springs, El Paso County, this past
night, Wed.-Thurs., Aug. 15-16. After the front passed and winds calmed,
sometime overnight,

Black-bellied Plovers
in breeding plumage at Barr Lake. To see or photograph these elegant

from the Nature Center along the Neidrach Trail and you will soon see where

I have a female Western Tanager investigating my Wash. Hawthorne berries
and at least four female Broad-tailed hummers in my yard at feeders and at
my Agastache blooms.

Just watched an adult alternate plumaged Laughing Gull near dam at n. end of
Barr Lake. It has since moved off, but is likely still around. Very few
Frnklin's Gulls around to sort through (1 adult, 2 imms)

After reading Ted F.'s post about birds migrating over EPC last night and
noticing an unusual number of birds in our yard, I decided to check Sonderman
Park in Colo Springs after an appointment; there was a lot of activity from the
usual summer residents and a Bleu-gray Gnatcatcher fall-out. I

After reading Ted Floyd's post about early morning migration in El Paso
County I changed my plans and headed to Chico Basin Ranch in Pueblo and El
Paso County (fee). There were bird migrants. In decreasing order of
abundance: Lark Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, Brewer's Sparrow, Lark
Not too many birds of late but, this week, Cassin's Finch and Winter Wren took
a bath at my place. (On different days) Small Flycatcher for a short time one
day and I have had 3 or 4 female hummers at the agastache and the feeder. I
believe they are Calliope.

LAUGHING GULL, adult in alternate plumage at n. end near dam at 7:30 am.
Disappeared about 10 minutes later never to be refound. Only 3 Franklin's Gulls
present, one adult, which also disappeared. Anyway, no need to worry about
sorting
