I spent most of the last two days at Jackson Lake. Huge numbers of
numerous species still on the water, including multiple shorebird
species, several hundred (at least) American White Pelicans, numerous
White-faced Ibis, Snowy and Great Egrets, American Avocets, Wilson's
and Red-necked Pha
With back-to-back-to-back-to-back school groups occupying much of our time
today, we opened only part of the station. Still managed to capture and
banded 40 new birds. Similar mix to yesterday, with a bunch of Chipping
Sparrows thrown in. Here's the breakdown:

I birded some of the areas around Louviers this morning, from 7:45am until
10:15am. It started out quite windy and quiet, but the birding really picked
up when the wind died down around 9am. The highlights of the morning were as

Terns that I saw yesterday were at CHATFIELD SP marina sand spit ( Douglas
County ) not at Cherry Creek SP as in described on cobirds .

I saw about 25 Sandhill Cranes in a harvested grainfield near Monte Vista (Rio
Grande County). They are right on schedule. Some of the trees are also turning
so it should make for some great viewing and photography in the next 5 weeks.
