I saw about 25 Sandhill Cranes in a harvested grainfield near Monte Vista (Rio Grande County). They are right on schedule. Some of the trees are also turning so it should make for some great viewing and photography in the next 5 weeks. Great time to visit the San Luis Valley but bring a jacket..
