Yesterday I did some birding in the Colorado City area where I spotted this
white and lightly marked (at least on underparts that were visible to me)
hawk. I got some photos and thought surely this was a Krider's Red-tailed

As some of you know, I have been trapping and banding owls for many years. The
other evening an infesting question came up about life birds and banding.
Last year a friend from Indiana came to my banding site to see a Boreal Owl. We
did catch a Boreal that night and he did see it, but on

The bird was along the edge of the cat tail marsh, south of the plum creek
recreation area parking (the flooded parking area at the end of the road).
Listen for the 'smacking' chip note from the pavement to about 100 yards south.
