I haven't seen the cardinal yet this morning. Yesterday I first noticed it
around 9, though.
If anyone does find it, please let me know. Thanks,

A flock of American white pelicans has been floating fishing at Teller Lake
(just north of Arapahoe) since November 6 when I counted 45. By Nov. 10 there
were 74. They are still there this morning though I didn't go close enough to
count. According to Holt's Birds of Colorado, most pelicans
Hi All,

Folks-Ted Floyd called me to report an adult male Barrow's Goldeneye at
Baseline Res. in S. Boulder. Viewing should be good from S. Cherryvale. He
also has an oft-diving loon sp. that he's not ready to ID yet...
Enjoy- Bill Schmoker, Longmont.

This bird has been hanging around my feeder, feeds only on the ground,,
usually in the company of juncos. Kind of like a Tree Sparrow (definitely
has a two-tone bill), but the rusty cap is not solid, only a streak.

Hello CoBirders,
Late Saturday evening we had a juvenile Golden-crowned Sparrow show up in
our backyard. It subsequently showed up again Sunday morning for just a few
moments and it reappeared this morning for a little bit longer (3 times for
a combined total of +-5 minutes). If anyone would like
Hello again,

Hi all:
At Nick's request, I have looked at the pix available of the bird that Scott
Rashid found yesterday, and I must respectfully disagree with him about the
bird's age and I am not sure that I agree with his species ID, at least in
whole. The pix available of the beast are not the best
Many thanks to Tony for his in-depth and educational contribution to the
discussion. I was not at all sure of my assessment of the wing molt on this
“interesting” bird. I would support Tony’s assessment of the non-identifiable
status of this immature gull. I’m sure this is not what the

The crown is also right for a winter plumaged American Tree Sparrow.

Hi All,
At approximately 3:30 this afternoon Celia Greenman, Rob Raker, and
myself observed the flock of 20+ Common Redpolls feeding on the south
side of Lily Lake near the small footbridge (where they have been
reported previously) in Rocky Mountain National Park. Great sight to

Applauds to Tony for a superb discussion of this bird.
This series of photos backs my argument about photos being hard evidence. They
are ... and they are not.
