Joe,
You are a valued board member of two organizations, Colorado Field
Ornithologists (CFO) and Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory (RMBO). CFO's mission
relates to the "study, conservation and enjoyment of Colorado birds." RMBO's

Not all the reports are in, but we had two great birds for a CBC in
Colorado. A female *Acorn Woodpecker* was observed by Marty Wolf's team
near the North Cheyenne Canyon area. A *Palm Warbler* found earlier in the
week by Saraiya Ruano on The Colorado College campus was also observed
Longmont Christmas Bird Count had a preliminary total of 92 species(a
couple of areas had not reported in yet). One species was found for the first
time: A Eastern Phoebe in St. Vrain Park in south central Longmont. Other
unusual species were Hermit Thrush, Horned Grebes, Winter Wren, Am. W
Greetings,
Late this morning, our CBC group consisting of Jill Holden, Meredith McBurney,
Betty Glass and myself, found three Eastern Bluebirds on the Lockheed Martin
property in Jefferson County. This is private property, but the birds may find
their way to nearby public areas.

Since I need to get to sleep, for tomorrow's Penrose CBC, this will be short.
123 Species of birds were found on today's Pueblo Reservoir CBC, compiled by
Mark Yaeger. Thanks to everyone for coming and helping out! We can't do it
without everyone's help!
Two new species were added to the coun
Finally, yesterday 12/14, I had a male redpoll. He was in my hedge/bush for
a few minutes, flew to the platform feeder (sunflower-thistle-standard
birdseed mix), was there less than a minute, went back to the hedge, and was
gone in another minute.
Today there was a female, almost in the same
Actually, I think the redpolls are racing in a Big Year. They individually
are trying to see how many Colorado birders they can list. That's why we
only see one or two, generally, and for such short periods of time.

Greetings All
Today I birded from Broomfield n. to Loveland. Highlights were as follows
1) BLACK BRANT. Yesterday, I was alerted that a Brant had been reported
intermittently at L Loveland from 3-12 December. The observers did not post
their finds to COBIRDS, so I will respect their apparent
Hi All,
The Western Palm Warbler that has been hanging around Colorado College
campus the past few days was seen several times today (12/15), as early as
8:40 and as late as 5. The bird has been hanging around in the shrubs on
the south side of Barnes Science Hall and the east side of Palmer Ha
Had a female acorn woodpecker today during the COS CBC. It was on the N.

Late this afternoon, I stopped by the Silverthorne Blue River Water Treatment
Plant and saw 23+ Barrow's Goldeneyes along with several other species of duck
and an American Coot. There might have been 1-2 female Common Goldeneyes but I
did not have time to really closely scrutinize. In the n

During its November meeting, the Board of the Colorado Field Ornithologists
voted to award the coveted CFO Appreciation

Woodlin Lions Club. CFO gives such plaques

The redpoll from yesterday is back today. He's a beautifully plumaged
male, just one. He ignores the thistle feeder and feeds on the ground and
from the "regular" feeder, which is just a standard seed mix.
I've seen a few redpolls this season, but always only 1 at a time. I
wonder why we're see

Hi, folks--
My turn to chortle. I'm probably the last to see them but two very light
individuals turned up on our feeders yesterday. They were here for 5 minutes
and then gone again, to delight somebody else who has been heretofore
redpoll-less, I hope. But more importantly, I hope they turn up in
