I ventured forth during yonder sleet-blizzard to Panama Res, which is almost
entirely open. The pelican count is now >25 and the Redhead/RN Duck mix is
about 1000 birds strong. There were also >500 Common Mergs with a couple RB
Mergs tossed in, but the gull mix remains deficient in
Hi Cobirders, No new year birds seen in the yard lately. With storm
coming Wednesday I put out more seed about noon. I checked often the
birds seemed to be
expecting the storm.
1 PM. Northern Flickers 2Male pecked away on one of the suet
blocks. Female was on the large drum sorti
Went looking for the Waxwings yesterday with Rob King from Longmont, went
to Crane Hollow road with no luck so we went over to
Gunbarrell, the first office park off 63rd and Longbow was a cottonwood
tree with about 60-70 Bohemian Waxwings, drove a half block
west on Longbow to the Juniper bush at
Changing my estimate to 2/3 blacks. Amazing!

Greetings from the High Plains Snow Goose Festival in Lamar, CO.
Yesterday afternoon, Saturday 23 February, Ted Floyd, Liz Gordon, and I capped
a surprisingly birdy visit to the "Black Hole" area just below the dam at Two
Buttes Reservoir with a fun taxonomic sweep: a flock in
Flock of 30+ coming to my feeders near horse tooth Mtn park roughly 1/3 are
blacks (new yard bird). Also a few Hepburns. Surprisingly no brown-caps.
