I found a subadult light morph Broad-winged Hawk this morning on the Canon
City Riverwalk about a mile east of Raynolds Ave. It was quite shy and
perched in the tall trees close to the river but I did get some photos that
show field marks for this species. I have uploaded some of the photos

We're on Spring Bird Count up here in the northern part of the state. My
team covers a large swath of NW Boulder County.
Besides two large flocks of White-faced Ibis (17 and then 28), we saw one

(5/18).

I had a Northern Parula at the Fort Collins City Farm. I was streching
after my run and heard it singing so I ran home to get my bins and refound
it at the south end of the parking lot in a poplar tree. There were also a
pair of Wood Ducks perched in the tree.
Also of note on my run I heard a

I just had 2 Evening Grosbeaks in my yard in Roxborough, a surprising bird to
say the very least. They appeared to be feeding on cottonwood catkins, then
flew off over the hogback to the west.
I've NEVER seen Evening Grosbeaks in CO that weren't in the mountains. The
female had the full-on
I spotted several (or one very active) spotted towhees along the Highline
Canal, just north of Mineral Ave. in Littleton. Beautiful bird singing its
heart out.
The general area is Mineral between Broadway and Santa Fe Drive. Lots of
hummingbirds in the same area.

I made my first-ever visit to the legendary Lamar CC Woods today, albeit in
the heat of the day around 1:30pm. (I'm in transit to Two Buttes for doing
some RMBO work.) I wasn't expecting a whole lot in the way of migrants,
although I can now see the attraction of the place. I did find the resident
At around 4 this afternoon I found a male Nashville Warbler just east if
the diversion damn along the gravel trail. These few trees have been very
productive over the last week!
Bird on!

Hello, everybody.
What a fantastic and gloriously exhausting time we've all been having at the
CFO Convention in Cortez, Montezuma County. The birds--you know, Painted
Redstart--were brilliant, but, really, the grandest thing about a CFO
convention is all the wonderful people. Some highlights
For the first time in 7 years I just had a beautiful male Rose Breasted

Hi All,
If anyone still needs a rosy finch, there is still a lone individual
coming to my feeder. It is not too uncommon for them to be here this
late. In the past we have had rosy's clear into June. A few years ago I
had fledglings at my feeder.
Also the pair of pygmy-owls that I have

Hi Everyone-
Today 5/19, I birded Two Buttes SWA, Lamar Community College, Tempel Grove,
and Last Chance. I noticed that Swainson's Thrushes are everywhere. One of
them at Tempel Grove was on the olive end of the spectrum and I took it to
be of the eastern subspecies. At Two Buttes, a female
I birded with Mark Peterson, Kara Carragher, and Dan Maynard this weekend on
the eastern plains. Here are some of the interesting birds that coming through,

Today, 5/19:

Alder Flycatcher - 1 at Siebert, Kit Carson County
Daren Obrien and I spent an hour at the birdy Wheat Ridge Greenbelt. A pair of
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks joined many of the more common migrants. Photos of the
