I would hope that there is still some leniency granted for those posts that

For several days I have had a bird come to my feeder that I thought was
just a House Finch but it is mostly orange not red.
Is this in fact a House Finch and the color due to the type of food it has
been eating? (See photo)
Yes, when reporting a sighting it is wise to include the county name in the
subject line. Very helpful.
And I also agree with Steve Stachowiak The implication of a quick phoned-in

This morning around 6 am I had a Red-shouldered Hawk at the intersection of
the Poudre bike trail and E. Lincoln Ave. on the south side of the river.
It was perched on top of the conveyor machine at Ranch Way Feed. I watched
it for a couple of minutes before it flew west along the riparian
This is an orange variant of the house finch. I've had these around my

Our wild tour of northern Colorado is coming to a close. Arrived here at
Estes on Thursday but flew to San Francisco over weekend and returned
Monday night. Spring is coming along, but still a dearth of passerines in

Continuing our visit to the Estes Park area in Larimer County, I birded again
in the late afternoon at Lake Estes. Not much around, but I had a great
surprise when I came upon a beautiful male Bobolink in the Matthews-Reeser Bird

I had never heard of Stalker Lake before, even though I'd lived and birded
in Colorado for over 8 years. I'm sure I'm not the only person who was
unfamiliar with that place. Given Steve Mlodinow and his extensive travels
