juv?) feeding along the south shore of Prewitt Reservoir. Further study will
take place, but the bird looked awesome and photos were obtained. The Am Golden
Plover and GFW Goose were still where they were last weekend
These Barn Owls have caused quite the stir! Lots of people have been
writing to me, asking if they can come see them.
I need to explain that the birds are nesting in the attic of an old barn
that is on private property, to which I do not have access. The City of

So, coming from I-76, take the first entrance into Prewitt. That road ends in a
T. Go L. Take second right, which winds to edge of reservoir. Walk out towards
water's edge, and then work area between water's edge and inlet channel. You
can also cross the now fragmented inlet
I went out in slightly better light tonight and two owls were on the
ground. Thanks to Brian (really, THANK YOU, Brian!), I have come to the
conclusion that I likely mis-IDed the owls in west Longmont. They are bulky
and seem too large for Barn Owls. If they're Great-Horneds, it was a very
