(looking into sun), but obvious size and structural difference in silhouette
from RBGU when floating on the water were easy to see.

Like Cathy posted earlier, the Little Gull was present this morning at
Terry Lake.
I ran into John Vanderpoel, Peter Gent, Joyce Takamine and Maggie Boswell
there, first on the west side of the lake but a bit later on the east side.
In the mornings, that is certainly the better viewing op
Geez - I said "nice backlit morning views", but that's ridiculous. I meant,
"nice front-lit morning views". I need breakfast.

To add to what Eric noted, we returned to the east side of Terry lake a half
hour later and the Little Gull was roosting with Bonaparte's and Ring-billed
Gulls in the east bay providing us with a closet view. It looks like a 1st
basic plumage bird with more than a smattering of retained juvenile

The Brant remains at Houts Reservoir in the same location on the SW side
of the reservoir as of 11am today. It was associated with three Canada
geese and was cooperative for photos. There were several Bonaparte's
gulls and female common mergansers along with the usual suspects out on
the water

Hi all,
Heard and then saw a Winter Wren this afternoon along the Twin Lakes Trail
in Gunbarrel, about 1/3 mile west of 63rd street and 100 yards east of
Robinson Place, on the north side of the creek. Call notes were those of
Winter, not Pacific Wren.

Saw the Brant this afternoon (4 pm) in the SW corner with two Canada
Goose. Beautiful bird! Also saw 18 Am. Pipits, a dozen Bonaparts Gulls,
and 4 Hooded Mergansers.

Went back to Blue Lake today and was happy to find 2 female Black Scoters.
Duane Nelson, Norma Verhoff, and Janeal Thompson were able to see these birds.
Duane thinks they might be a first for Kiowa County. When we left this
afternoon, the birds were in the northeast part of the res.

The Black and Surf Scoters were seen by George Mayfield and myself at the same
lake in City Park, Denver, CO., around 4:30pm today.
They were sitting side by side for a nice comparison.
