Thanks to Bill Kaempfer for the report. My party (at times literally a
party) crossed path with Bill's at a couple junctures in the day. We saw
Bill et al. at the shorebird pond just north of Jasper Road, and we got
distant views through the scope of Vanderpoel at Walden.
Here's an account of
There were 3 Sanderlings at Big Johnson earlier today. One is very light
and easy to ID from a distance. They were seen from the dirt parking area
but were moving around a lot.

Hello, Birders.
Hannah and Andrew and I ventured out this hot, dry, dusty afternoon, Sunday,
May 4. Felt like July in La Junta.
Lagerman Reservoir had a breeding-plumage Common Loon, a Baird's Sandpiper, a
Spotted Sandpiper, and an American Avocet.
Clover Basin Reservoir had a Willet, 3
Birders,
Today was a work day for me, but in May, I take time to look for other
birds, especially on weekends. After I finished checking the large
Piping Plover closure on the south side of the reservoir, I returned to
my truck. In the half-dozen or so saltcedar trees that give me some

Today, Sean Walters and I birded Yuma County (with a quick couple stops in
Phillips and a visit to Red Lion SWA in Logan.) We had a resplendent 131 species
Topping the list was a male SCARLET TANAGER in the town of Laird. Next best was
a female SUMMER TANAGER at the Wray Fish
Today Dean Shoup found a male Black-throated Green Warbler on private
property in Cheyenne County. This bird was seen and photographed by about
14 other birders on a trip to SE Colorado.
While not really re-locatable, I just wanted birders to know that this
species is represented by more than
