The day started with me searching for Boreal Owl, and after an hour, turning of
Hwy 14 towards Rangers Lakes and hearing one singing of its own volition!
I did most of what I did last year. Overall, duck numbers and grebe numbers

I explored some areas in the northwest corner of Park County along and
around Deer Creek (...not that Deer Creek, the other one - along County
Road 43). I had Band-tailed Pigeons at three places: two together along
Saddlestring Road, and two singles at well-separated spots along Pike NF

The House Wren, at least around the DU area, has in the past always been at
best a rare summer resident. This summer their status has significantly
increased. They are now every where in the immediate vicinity. Walking around
the neighborhood is like birding for House Wrens along riparia
So I saw a Black Phoebe flycatching near the 75th St. Bridge in Boulder
today, just where it had been reported... so I was somewhat surprised as I
viewed the bird that it appears to have the swollen orange gape of a
fledgeling?? Did the original reported bird breed? And if so with who? I

My four SAPH babies were gone this morning after lining up in the hawthorn
yesterday and sleeping on the hummingbird feeder! I wish them well! See
