I birded Friday afternoon in several areas north of Rocky Ford and La Junta
including Lakes Meredith, Henry, Holbrook and the Ordway town reservoir--a
few shorebirds at the lakes but very few birds at any of these locations.
The most shorebirds I found were in the bar ditch adjacent to the Ordway

eastside of the South Platte, upstream of the perimeter road covering areas
both in the riparian and in the more open uplands (Douglas Co). Things were

I visited Boyd Lake State Park near Loveland late this afternoon. Water was
high, boaters and jet skiers abounded, and birds seemed non-existent in the

Sabine's have hit in big numbers this weekend. I saw a juvenile Sabine's at
Lagerman Reservoir in Boulder County mid-day today and noticed continuing
reports from others at Cherry Creek, Chatfield, Jumbo and Big Johnson
Reservoirs.

I got great views this afternoon of 3, no less, Sabines Gulls at Smith
Reservoir SWA near Blanca. There are 2 juveniles and one molting adult. What a
sight!
They can be seen along the south shore of the reservoir so go into the south
side entrance.

To Dave Cameron and others seeking shorebirds at Crom Lake in future. A
local farmer told me that Crom will receive more water on Tuesday. So there
likely will be little to no edge left after tomorrow. Sally Swain and I had
a nice flock of 72 Stilt Sandpiper, 3 Bairds, 4 Semipalmated Sands and 7
Currently feeding off north lot in State Park.

Today I woke up to a mini-fallout in my yard with lots of yellow-rumped
warblers and robins, plus 2 orange-crowned warblers, 1 Townsend's warbler, 3
blue-gray gnatcatchers, 1 yellow warbler, 1 western tanager, 1 green-tailed
towhee. I only got to watch them for a few minutes. There were probabl
