In-case anyone is interested, I'm leading a Aiken Audubon birding trip to
Pueblo this coming Saturday (22 Nov). This trip was suppose to happen last
Sunday, though that trip was postponed due to cold/snowy weather. If you need
details on this up-coming trip, please let me know. Some of the
It was warmer today, so our group of seed bearers (Mark Chavez) other
shutterbugs did not suffer from exposure while Fox, Harris's Golden-crowned

Saw one each of surf, black and white-winged scoters this morning about 8am.
There is still a small opening near the swim beach where I saw the surf scoter.
There is another opening out toward the middle where I saw the black and
white-winged. I did see both the surf and white-winged dive
Hi All,
Will Clary and I birded around El Paso County this morning.
We spent about an hour, from 7:30 to 8:30 at Prospect Lake. There is much
more open water than it sounds like there was yesterday, so birds were a
bit more spread out. In close to shore was the *Black Scoter*, diving
After checking on the still-present rarities (wwscoter, blkscoter, and

Went back to Chatfield Reservoir this morning, hoping something new blew
in, but by the looks of it, not much did, except Goldeneye numbers bumped

Goose* flew in with a flock of Canadas. A female *Red-breasted
Cole Wild reports 4 Common Loons and 4 distant scoters in the north end of Boyd
Lake. He tentatively identified them as Black Scoters. If anyone gets more

This has been posted in Texas with solid birders saying it is likely wild:
At 3:25 PM this afternoon, I discovered an apparent pure adult Common
Crane
associating with roughly 4,000 Sandhill Cranes on Goose Lake at Muleshoe
NWR. It didn't appear to have any leg bands, so I'm leaning wild origin,
At least three of the Tundra Swans were still present in the SW corner of
the lake as of 4:30 pm. Unfortunately, the wind, cold and more wind made
the viewing less than pleasurable. Along the way, on Larimer Co Rd 15, I
saw 12 Sandhill cranes standing in a field of stubble just past the
As the crane flies, the west Texas Common Crane is directly south of
Colorado right now. Might have crossed Colorado to get to Texas. Might be
coming back this way next spring. Something to keep in mind!

COBirders,
It has been a week since our magnificent vagrant was last seen here. It was
suggested that I keep the feeder out (and warmed) just in case she came
back, in case that gave us more information/insight, but there has been no
sight nor sound. She is gone.
I'm taking the feeder down for
