The Monte Refuge has bountiful numbers of Sandhill Cranes, Canada, Cackling,
Snow and Ross’ Geese, Mallards, Pintails, Ring-necked Ducks and many Bald
Eagles watching them closely. The refuge still has snow cover which has
affected usual feeding and roosting patterns. Best place at the moment is
Birders,
There are Rosy-Finches here today. There are now 3 who are fluffy and
don't fly away from me. I almost poured seed on one of then and 2 were
fighting at my feet. I just about picked up one.

The Northern Cardinal was here this morning just after 7:00. The cardinal has
been visiting my feeders much more frequently for the last 4-5 weeks. It had
been coming in bursts of a few days with prolonged absences. Perhaps the
extended cold and snowy weather has been a factor.
