On my way down to the CFO Convention in Salida, I took one of many side trips.
From south 285 I turned right on County Rd 162 (Nathrope) towards Mt Prinston
Hot Springs. Approx 20 yards from the intersection, on the top of one of two
dead trees was a Lewis Woodpecker. I had planned on running up
Male Hepatic Tanager was feeding for a few minutes this morning (6/4) at a
nectar feeder on my deck. This feeder is stationary, mounted on a post, unlike
my other hummingbird feeders.

Well, they weren't at my feeder (darn!), but I did just have an *Evening
Grosbeak* fly over my home, and a little earlier a flock of 9 *Red
Crossbills* (Type 2) went over.
As a friend of mine back in CA always signed his bird posts,
