Things were hopping today! 111 birds banded, plus we caught a House Wren
banded last year and 30 birds already banded this season for a grand total
of 142 birds. Not surprisingly, there were lots of Wilson's, but also some
variety. Here's the breakdown on the new birds:

At 11:45 this morning I saw an adult Sabines Gull flying over Headquarters
Pond. I watched him for about 3 minutes until he left and headed south. The
bird was unmistakable with striking black and white wing pattern and white
tail. There have been several reports of Sabine’s Gull at Big Johns
To keep this conversation going...scrub-jays seem to be all around Denver
this fall. I've seen one at the Gardens on the 7th and 13th, and ebird is
showing additional sightings around central and south Denver over the past

Speaking of Western Scrub-Jays, we have had one in the past, was even here for
one of the Audubon's Christmas Feeder counts. We hadn't seen it for a while, it
just showed up as Dave was cleaning our birdbath. Don't know if it will hang
around or not.

All,
I started out yesterday morning towards Crow Valley Campground, Weld Co.
but stopped to watch large numbers of blackbirds come out of a marsh at
sunrise at Weld CR60 1/2 where it bends left (North) and turns into CR37.
Ribbons of Red-wings were seen before I got to the marsh and then saw
~7-8,
