I stopped in at S. Platte Res. first thing this morning. Open water
continues in the Arapahoe portion. Three* Long-tailed Ducks* are still
there. The male was spending lots of time on the surface for a change,
power-swimming along the margin of the open water, while the two females
were underwater

The Harris's was reported yesterday.

There has been a Snow Goose reported on ebird from Crown Hill and the adjacent
Paramount Park. I was able to get photos of this strange looking large bird on
the 25th. The bill definitely is lacking the grin patch on the bill. The bill
and legs are a bright orange like a Greater White-fronte

The setting: We live in an area below an extension of the Castlewood Canyon
cliffs, one of 16 homes scattered along a mile-long road. Several of the homes

Yesterday afternoon, Sunday, Jan. 31, Andrew Floyd and I ran
into--literally, almost ran into--Christian Nunes on the trail at Greenlee
Preserve, Boulder County. Christian told us he'd heard a lapland longspur
flying over L
I stepped out to experience the heavy snow band over Longmont and two
Lapland Longspurs were calling (rattles and tew calls) overhead possibly
disoriented by the snow and the glow of the city lights.
I'm going outside to listen again. . .
