After a long morning of birding Weld County my wife and I decided to visit
Barr Lake to see the Barn Owls, (we did), on our way back to the visitor
Center we happened upon a small group of birders looking at a Vireo in the
trees by the shore, looked with them and found a foraging Red-eyed Vireo
Late afternoon a singing Bobolink gave several nice looks just west of Walden.
The bird was on a fence along the dirt road that heads north beside the caboose
west of town. It was roughly 1/4 mile from the highway.

Today seemed to mark the beginning of real activity among Yellow Warblers -
We banded 6 new, caught 3 from prior years, caught another 6 banded earlier
this season. In several instances, we caught a male and female side by side
in the net. Our "best bird" of the day was a female American
Jodi Barr sent Denver Audubon a picture of a molting male Summer Tanager in her
yard at 10700 East Dartmouth in Denver. She saw it May 18, and it may still be
coming in. Contact her at to confirm its continued

I heard the vireo around 11:45, while walking my dog at deKoevend. There
was also an Olive-sided Flycatcher, a Western Wood-Pewee, and a Western

While watching the vireo, it went silent while two boys adventured off

Greetings Birders,
I am sheepishly reporting that I saw and heard an Alder Flycatcher at the
Morrey Wildlife Reserve in Loveland today. Sheepishly because I didn't
realize I was looking at one when it happened. I spotted a flycatcher with
a white throat, moderate primary projection and the
