I talked to Van Truan this morning, and he said, the Yellow-throated
Warbler continues to sing in Mineral Palace Park in Pueblo. Seems
like this singing male Yellow-throated Warbler is on territory, hoping
a female shows up. It would be nice, if female does show up, I don't
think there is a confi
Hail, the new arrivals. Yesterday's storm today brought Western tanagers, three
males and one female. Also had a male Bullock's oriole drinking from a
hummingbird feeder.

Hey COBirders,
I banded an adult Northern Waterthrush (#2 for the season) this morning at
Clear Spring Ranch. I didn’t expect much for migrants today following the
torrents last night, but there was a modest arrival about 8:00, with the usual
suspects for this part of May (20 total). Also of n
I took a very early stroll down the Boulder Bobolink Trail this morning. It
had to be early to beat all the runners on the path. But I think that starting
at 5:45, I may have beaten some species, especially warblers to their wake-up
call. The most unusual species were heard only-Northern Wate
I saw a few of you in the gardens this morning. The black-throated gray
and Virginia's warbler continue in the same general area of the Denver
Botanic Garden behind The Hive.
It seems they've been seen in another part of the garden in the afternoons.

A slow banding day - It pretty much rained all night, and I don't think
there was much movement of birds in or out. A total of 9 new and 2 returns
from previous years:
Dusky Flycatcher (FOS) 1
House Wren 3
Yellow Warbler 1 new, 1 banded 2015
Common Yellowthroat 1
Yellow-breasted Chat 1 new, 1 b
This morning I arrived at Lake Hasty Campground in Bent County at 6:45
a.m. I could tell it had rained a lot the night before, the only semblance
to a fallout was Lazuli Buntings everywhere, I counted 27. Other numbers
seemed normal. Of note were two Warbling Vireos, one Red-eyed Vireo, two

Birders,
As I did last year, this summer I will be living in Estes Park (Larimer County)
while I work at the Trail Ridge Store in Rocky Mountain National Park. Since I
do not have a car or a driver's license, I'm hoping to find one or more birding
companions from places nearby with whom I can g
We started the day under gray skies in Alamosa hoping to find some great
birds. Rain was forecast and it was a cool start but Jerry Poe, Mary Van
Pelt and myself gave it a shot. At Alamosa Golf Course, the cold temps
described the birding as well.cold. At our third stop, the sun poked

The difference a day can make!
Yesterday morning, Monday, May 8, was dry and sunny, and I found a grand
total of three (3) migrants at the Greenlee Preserve–Waneka Lake–Thomas
Open Space–Hecla Lake ecological complex, eastern Boulder County: 2 *Audubon
warblers* and 1 *chipping sparrow.*
I just found a piping plover at the north end of Boyd Lake.

Today's DFO "Big Month" field trip to Chatfield SP and a few other places
rounded up some 87 species, adding at least 18 new ones to the DFO "Big

A pre-dawn extension of the trip enjoyed 4 *Common Poorwills* at the Dakota

A *Barn Owl *just called three times near my home, beginning nearly right
over the house, then again nearby, and a third time a couple minutes later
but farther off. A *Common Poorwill* is calling sporadically in the

Nick Komar and I were birding at the north end of Boyd Lake State Park in

the mud flats. I showed the bird to Nick, but it flew off before we were
able to photograph it. Nick relocat
