HEY COBirders,
A beautiful, calm, clear, quiet morning, and initially a lot of bird movement
at Clear Spring Ranch this morning. After about 8:30, activity dropped off
considerably, except for the emphatically singing Yellow Warblers, Com
Yellowthroats, and Red-winged Blackbirds.

Today, there was a single Snowy Plover at San Luis Lake. It was on the
peninsula on the west side of the lake. (Alamosa County).
Other birds in the area included Black Terns, Least Sandpiper, Peregrine
Falcons, and Lark Bunting. Is this a great time of year or what!

Monte Vista,
For the record, I tried to send this to get the word out just after seeing
the vireo early this morning, but for whatever technical reason (perhaps

Later in the day, the first Least Tern of the year flew past a closure
on the north side of John Martin Reservoir. I don't know where, or if,
it landed. In the late morning, I had two Caspian Terns on the south
Hi all,
This afternoon I began my 19th year of operation of the bird banding
station at the YMCA of the Rockies south of Estes.
It was quite the eventful afternoon shortly after getting the nests set
up an adult male Northern Goshawk landed just a few yards from me while
it was being harasse
We went from wet to warm, pretty much over night! First day this season
that we started closing early because of the heat.
But a lovely if slowish early morning, with a nice mix of birds, including
5 first of season species. The highlight was a truly lovely WHITE-EYED
VIREO. Here is a breakd
Refound the Baltimore Oriole at approx 3:30pm. (Lifer - thanks Brandon and
Bill) About 100 yards east of the FCNC building; large cottonwood tree
with wire wrapped around the trunk. Went back around 6:30pm to see if we
could refind it, but were unable to.

I took a group of 8 from Boulder to Lamar today for the start of a three day
