For all the birders seeking the hawk, I would recommend starting your
search at the Colorado Welcome Center located in the southwest corner at
the intersection of I-25 and Prospect Rd. There are parking lots to the
south that provide a nice vista of the area where the hawk has been seen
most of
Birders did a great job of monitoring the location of the elusive Harris’s Hawk
today. Reports on Cobirds listserv and eBird accounted for its whereabouts
almost the entire day, from just after sunrise at RiverBend Ponds Natural Area
to sunset along Strauss Cabin Road in the Strang Gravel Pit ar
Currently observing the hawk along Horsetooth Road at the Strang gravel pit
entrance on the south side of the road

At 1:15 it was last seen flying south over Running Deer NA towards Rigden

I saw one male Yellow-headed blackbird among red-winged blackbirds and some
starlings along the road, presumably collecting gravel or forage that has
fallen off of the agricultural trucks. The birds were flying between the
private pond just north of the lamb winter feed lots on the west side o
At 11:15 the bird continued in a tree to the west of the Rest stop/welcome
center at Prospect and I-25. Shortly there after the bird moved twice to trees
just north of prospect, (the trees just north of the bluish-gray house).

Nick Komar currently ( 9:50 am) has the Harris's Hawk perched in a tree in
the northeast side of Running Deer Natural Area, just south of Hagermans
Recycling. He is viewing it from the truck parking lot of the Colorado
Welcoming Center at Prospect Rd and I-25.
