Hi all
Stopped by Running Deer Natural Area on my commute to see Common
Gallinule--no luck--I scanned from north sidewalk as well as south side. I
did however have a Green Heron fly north to south above heading towards
adjacent Cottonwood Hollow Natural Area.

Went out to Squirrel Creek Road Pond, El Paso County, to see if anything
interesting is coming in. The mud flats are really nice this time of
year. Glad I stopped. Pectoral Sandpiper working the mud closest to the
road. Awesome!

For those who may be heading up high to Mt Evans, here are a few highlights
from a drive I made up there yesterday for the Mt Evans BBS route. Pretty
dry up there, too!* Gray Jays* were within 0.75 mile either side of
Milepost 14 along Hwy 103. I'd start at Juniper Pass Picnic Area and go

The gallinule is still being seen here at Running Deer in the previously
reported location.

A male Rufous Hummingbird just showed up and took over one of our feeders
tonight. Same date as last year!
