I looked at myriad photos of both species by googling"Tundra Swan on ice"
or
"Trumpeter Swan on Ice." That eliminates photos of swans aswimming, their
legs hidden
from view.
When feet are visible, smaller feet are seen on photos of Tundras, but not
on Trumpeters.

The six swans are still on South Platte Park Reservoir (and probably have been
all day). They are out of view from the dam, however you can see them from the
business at 7926 Platte Canyon Drive. Drive to the end of the parking lot and
look east through the wrought iron gate.
The Tundra Swan
Six swans have just returned to the reservoir at 3:45pm.

The Swans on South Platte Reservoir and the one on Blackrock lake are no
longer there, but I was able to find a Swan on Cooley Lake, visible from
Mineral in the northeast section of the lake on some open water. I think it
may be the Tundra swan that flew from Blackrock late earlier today.

Just to update, at least on of the swans is a Tundra Swan. Thanks Joe
Roller for pointing this out to me. Pretty cool to get to see two species

On the map, it looks like Fossil Creek (the actual creek and not the
reservoir) flows right by the north side of the landfill before it winds
east and south and into Fossil Creek (the reservoir!)

were differentiated by leg and feet size, especially when they (the swans,
not the legs) were standing near each other.
Trumpeter: thick legs and feet like swim fins
Tundra: thinner legs, smaller feet.
These features are easy to see in the f
The six *Trumpeter Swans* (I though it should be seven swans a swimming)
continue at the South East end. There is also a female *Black Scouter*
still present, mostly by her self away from the other ducks. Me and three
other birds were present and got good looks at the swans, they even climbed
