Finding ducks in Cheyenne County is a challenge, due to the lack of open water.
With meltwater from the recent snowstorm, the situation was better than normal
today:

This morning about 10:45 the Boulder Bird Club was at Walden Ponds and we
observed a flock of birds off to the east, approximately over the White Rocks
area. We were able to watch them soar and identified them as Great Blue
Herons. Thankfully they worked their way toward us and we counted 65 -
Still present at 1:10. Easily viewable from several pulloffs off of 104th. Now
in eastern 1/3 of reservoir. Frequently diving.

The red throated loon is still in the same place right now. (10:50am) It is
on the western third of the pond across the street from Elaine T Valente
open space on 104th. It has its bill on its back and is napping. Thanks

The Wellington SWA cornfields continue to host Sandhill Crane--almost a
daily basis. This morning there were 50+.

There was a wood duck and 2 Eastern blue jays. Also present was a group of 20
shovelers, almost 30 cackling geese, 15 Canada’s, 6 lesser scaup, 4 mallards
and 3 coots.
