As of 7:00pm today, the painted redstart was on the west side of the
building, along with 18 cedar waxwings. What a beautiful bird!

This afternoon while counting birds for the eBird Global Big Day Walter Wehtje,
Irene Fortune and I visited Escalante Canyon in Delta County. Walter will be
leading a field trip there for the CFO convention, which will be held June

Hello Birders,
Barb and I visited Chico Basin Ranch last week. Here are 18 photos.
Wonderful to see birds in their best-dressed breeding plumage, all going to
the spring ball. (If I goofed on any ID's, please fire away.)

We hit a bit of a lull today, mostly because the yellow-rumpeds seem to
have moved on. We did get our first two Yellow Warblers of the season
(including one banded in 2016) and our first Chat. We also caught a Marsh
Wren, which is an unusual species for us. Here's the breakdown of the 13

Hey Birders,
Several birders and I watched a Palm Warbler foraging in a tree next to the
overlook gazebo at the Southeast end of the natural area. It moved in and
out of the line of trees, calling often.

Neighbor's yard: fussing Bullock's I suppose; I only run to see if I suspect
it's a new "yard" bird.
I thought the White-throated Sparrow was a new one, but my records show it's a
third appearance here! I did run when I heard a titmouse call a few years ago;
but I could not find the bird. :-(
