In Fort Logan Cemetery today, I saw 1, immature Greater-White-fronted Goose,
among hoards of Cackling/Canada Geese. The Cemetery is off of S. Sheridan, just
south of W. Quincy. Right after you enter the Cemetery off of S.. Sheridan,
there is a large pond on the south side. The bird was seen feed
Barrows continuing and showing well between noon and 1:30 this afternoon.
Back and forth from east to west as the 30-ish Common Goldeneye and 20+
Hooded Merganser did, finally settling into bathing and preening after a
while, with the sun at our backs, for great views.

Jay at al,
My assumption for the situation you describe would be diving ducks are absent
because some of their staples, predominately animal items like crayfish, snails
and small fish (like gizzard shad), are not present in sufficient/historical
amounts. Of course, the animals diving ducks feed
The Fountain Creek CBC is just south of Colorado Springs and is happening
Dec. 18th. No other Colorado count is scheduled for that day so far - so
if you're looking for something to do that day, we'd be happy to have you.

Birders,
Yesterday DFO had a field trip to Pueblo. The birds of note were:

Hi Everyone,
Today 11/17 I saw two Long-tailed Ducks at Lagerman Reservoir in Longmont.
The brighter of the two came close enough for me to get some digiscope
photos, and Peter Burke got some much better images with a real camera.
Looks like there's just one face smudge, not two, which points t

Was there Thursday and noticed the lack of water foul. Same thing at
Walden/Sawhill- virtually empty. Seemed quite odd to me.

I'm guessing all the changes you describe have affected their food supply
along with the disturbances. Wild ducks don't seem to tolerate

Wanted to pose a question to the group on possible explanations for the
missing (or severe lack) of waterfowl I HAVEN'T been seeing at Jim Hamm
Nature Area on the east side of Longmont this fall. Based on personal
observations for the past five years and the historical data from ebird

I'm not in Colorado right now, but I'm passing along a sighting of two Canyon
Wrens, singing, on the Gem Lake Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park. Our
daughter and some friends hiked the trail on Saturday and got to see and hear
the birds. eBird shows Canyon Wrens aren't reported up in this
Good morning,
As of 7:50 AM Sunday, the Barrow’s Goldeneye (male) continues at Main
Reservoir. It is currently on the N side, with a group of Common Goldeneyes &
Hooded Mergansers. He’s very actively paddling around, only occasionally
diving.
