I made a stop at Union Reservoir on the way down to Denver this afternoon to
see if I could find any ducks or raptors. I came across a nice group of a
variety of species including various yet distant poorly lit geese, ducks,
killdeer ect. I noticed a plover type bird and realized an American Gol
The snow brought in the birds we haven't seen for a while.A Fox Sparrow,
maybe the same one as last year.20 Dark-eyed Juncos - top count this fall.2
Spotted Towhees - top count since early October.8 Am. Goldfinches yesterday,
only five so far today.
8 magpies. Good Grief.

Dave Leatherman served as the forest entomologist for the Colorado State Forest
Service from 1974 to 2005. He is active in the Colorado Field Ornithologists,
has seen 457 species in the state, and been part of finding four First State
Records, the latest being a 2016 Couch’s Kingbird in Lamar. H

Stepped outside 8:15am today 11/22 to hear 4 Eastern Bluebirds calling from
backyard ash tree. They quickly flew off, distinctive bluebird wing pattern and
giss for visual confirmation. NW Loveland, Larimer Co. Pleasant surprise!
