The Hills are alive with cedar waxwings above eagle Vail. I saw nothing
else on my walk yesterday. There must be hundreds of them along a 2 mile
trail I walked.8000'

Swainsons hawk breeding pair at the Pinehurst country club with fledged
youngster at the 15th tee box. Mama stands very proud as she monitors
activity on the tee box. Were witnessed by a friend yester chasing
grasshoppers(we think) around on foot.

Found a couple band tailed pigeons on the hill in the top of a spruce tree.
Seemed to be a small flock around. Don't know if this is unusual to you
all, but was new to me this far north.

Started having the rufous hummers at my feeder. Which of course means it
is now a battle zone not a feeder. I had not understood how much different
the shape of the rufous hummers is than the broad tailed before.

Just visited the Clark's Grebe at the pond Exactly 2 miles north of the exit
from I 70 at Silverthorne. It is a lone bird in breeding plumage. Saw a
pair of Yellow warblers and the requisite Red-winged blackbird, crow and
magpie.

We have had as many as 4 Evening Grosbeaks and 4 Black-headed Grosbeaks at
our feeders on Greenway Circle in Avon. I was a little surprised to also
see The Ruby-crowned kinglet in the spruce down the street.
