I also have had a Stellar’s Jay at my backyard. Maybe not unheard of but it’s
only the second time I’ve had one in the 11 years I have lived here. The other
one was during a blizzard. I am on the plains and this bird is unusual for
me.

I have had a pair of Red Breasted Nuthatches in my yard all fall, with many
calling in the neighborhood in Louisville. Today I had a flock of about 50
or so in the tree near my feeder, accompanied by about a dozen mountain
chickadees. I usually only see the mt. chicks when it's snowing and ver

While at Baseline Res this morning trying to find the Red-throated Loon,
which I did not see, I wandered down to Dry Creek Trailhead just east of
Baseline Res on Baseline Rd: across the road, north of Baseline, sitting in
a giant cottonwood tree was a pair of Ferruginous Hawks.
Carol
spotted a ferruginous hawk at Chautauqua on the Mesa Trail near the
Ranger Cottage, top of a ponderosa pine. about 11:30 am Wed Mar 23.
It was hunting and I think got a rodent.
