Two weeks I was camping at Vega Lake State Park and saw 2 Lewis'
Woodpeckers. One was on a fence post maybe 10 feet from the dirt road.
Also there were a number of Violet-Green swallows, plus a family of
Mountain Bluebirds. As a recent transplant to CO, the bluebirds were a

We've had a yellow one on our feeder this summer, and about a decade ago I
photographed a trio of males along Monument Valley Park with one the
standard pinkish-red; one an almost Day-Glo orange, and one yellow. Over
the last winter I noticed some others with large leucistic patches.

While scouting for an Audubon Master Birder alumni trip in December I found a
Northern Shrike and a Lesser Black-backed Gull at Fossil Creek Reservoir in
Fort Collins.
They were located on the far east side of the reservoir along the frontage
road to I-25.

Has anyone been to the playa in Arapahoe County near CRs 149 26? Last
eBird report was a while ago, and I'd like to know if the habitat is still
good enough to host birds. Also, if you have intel on other playas in that
area, I'd appreciate it.

I went to Barr Lake for the dawn chorus and had over 60 species. The
WHITE-EYED VIREO was in the previously reported location, about 50 yards
North of the pedestrian bridge on the lake side of the path. It was
actively singing and foraging giving very good looks. Also present were

Other birds at the ranch today were a nesting Great Horned Owl and a Barn
Owl at the usual roosting location. Otherwise it was pretty slow.
