Hello Colorado Friends, I made the 3 hour trek out to Baca County yesterday, Saturday 2/13. It hit 78 degrees and the wind was quite calm most of the day... incredible! The biggest shock of the day was encountering a stub-tailed wren (Pacific/Winter) at the Carizzo Canyon Picnic Area. I put a few of the details on eBird and you can see the checklist at http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S27539873 .
Other birds of note from Cottonwood Canyon, at least per eBird filters, were the hen Wood Duck and the flyover Sandhill Cranes. The number of Sage Thrashers in the area, in reality, probably reached 10 by the end of the day.
