I found a flock of a dozen Evening Grosbeaks at Leyden Lake, near Indiana and
82nd. They were feeding on the abundant Russian olives north of Leyden
Reservoir.

I had a late Black-throated Gray Warbler in my back yard by the bird bath

For anyone who didn't get enough warbler viewing this year; there are a
couple of Audubon's near the South Platte River at McKay Road. They're
located about 100 feet west (up river) from the bridge.
This is adjacent to a wastewater treatment plant which, no doubt, provides
warm water for insec
I just relocated the LBHE in the same location over lunch Thursday
(April 28).
I spotted it flying over McKay road to land in the gravel pit pond
immediately east of Sprat-Platte. Iit hunted on the west shore of
that pond for about a minute before I looked away and it disappeared.

I think there is some misunderstanding here. I saw a blue adult. I
did not see any white juveniles nor did I see any Snowy Egrets at
Sprat-Platte.

At 5:00 pm I returned to Sprat-Platt and met another birder (Tim
Smart?) who reported the LBHE flew south after being spooked.

Little Blue Heron at Sprat-Platte fishing facility, 100th and McKay
Road, in Thornton today (Wednesday April 27th).
He was on the island and visible from the Platte River Trail directly
south of the island. I observed him from 11:45 AM until about 12:20

There was a broad winged hawk at kingfisher bridge Sunday (April 24)
at about 1:00pm. It was an adult light morp.
Combined with the Boulder area sightings it sounds like there is a
migration wave moving through.
Other birds in the area included yellow rumped warblers , Myrtle and

I found a lone Horned Grebe at Centennial Park, Englewood near Federal

It was feeding near a group of other more common diving ducks,
spending a lot of time underwater.
The bird was in adult, nonbreeding plumage as shown in the big Sibley

The Long-tailed Duck was at S. Platte and Florida as of Tuesday (Feb
15). She is shy and likes to hang under the east bank, keeping
vegetation between her and you. I suspect she has a hiding place as I
only see her half the times I stop to look.

The picture posted on another thread is definitely not the Long-tail
that has been at S. Platte and Florida. The Long-tail was an
unmistakable female in typical winter plumage.
It's gotta be at least part Pintail.

There was a Long-tailed Duck on the South Platte in Denver today
(Sunday) between Florida Ave. and the pedestrian bridge 200 yards
north.
This could be the same individual spotted a week ago by the Audubon
