this year are the American Tree Sparrows I am catching. I only
see one loner ATSP some years, and none at all most winters. So far I’ve banded
8 in the last couple weeks. Unexpected, and they are attractive soarrows. A
bonus.

Yes- try the river trail at Lee Martinez park. An ESO pair nested
successfully there this year, with at least one chick fledged. From the
main parking lot (at the ballfields) walk north to the river trail proper,

There have been some sandpipers seen in the wet fields by the entrance the last
few mornings, too. Thursday there were 8 Killdeer, and today a Peep flew away
from me, (maybe a Western Sandpiper, I just got a glimpse.)

or me were 2 Yellow-headed Blackbirds banded, from
a mixed flock of RW Blackbirds, YH Blackbirds, BH Cowbirds, and Com Grackles
that probably numbered over 1000, and doing their part to consume the oat
field. Yeah, a pretty good day.

This is a remarkable sighting for urban Denver but is it really that
unusual? After all, they are the Metro State *Roadrunners.*
