Hi all,

Since there might be more of these around (wishful hoping probably), I thought
it might be important to in-form the birding community, that an American
Woodcock was found dead in a yard in Colorado Springs, El Paso, near the U. of
Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS), last Saturday (Feb 9th).  The sighting was
reported to e-bird yesterday, and the photo of the bird was sent today to the
e-bird people in New York.  The photo has been sent to the Colorado Birds
Record Committee chair.  I'm not sure if there are previous records of this
species in El Paso County.  I know there is a December single observer sighting
from Pueblo County (one county south of El Paso County) in the 1990s.

Good birding,

Brandon Percival
Pueblo West, CO
