Hi CFO Members and COBirders,

This is to report the results of the CFO business meeting held on Saturday, May
21st, at the CFO convention banquet in Grand Junction, which was attended by
173 members and guests.

The attending membership re-elected officers for a two year term, as follows:
Jim Beatty, President; Bill Kaempfer, Vice President; Maggie Boswell,
Treasurer; and Larry Modesitt, Secretary.

In addition the following directors will continue their terms of office: Lisa
Edwards, membership; Ted Floyd, public relations; Brenda Linfield, webmaster;
Christian Nunes, social media project; Nathan Pieplow, editor of 'Colorado
Birds;' Bob Righter, special projects; Joe Roller, awards; and Larry Semo, CBRC
chair. The membership warmly welcomed Lisa Edwards and Christian Nunes to the
board to fill vacancies.

The "pass the hat" voluntary contributions at the banquet raised a record $744
for the continued support of the CFO youth scholarships and Colorado birding
research projects. Joel Such, co-author of 'News From the Field,' was
recognized as a 2011 Youth Scholarship winner.

Coen Dexter, the architect of most of the field trips, the Grand Valley Audubon
Society field trip leaders, and the CFO co-leaders were recognized and
enthusiastically thanked by the conference attendees.

More complete reports of the convention will be published in 'Colorado Birds'
and posted on the CFO website including field trips and birds seen, paper
sessions, awards presented, the very successful inauguration of the Birding ID
Challenge event (replacing 'Stump the Chumps'), and a summary of ABA President
Jeff Gordon's excellent and entertaining keynote address on "The Ten Birds that
Changed Birding."

Respectfully submitted,

Jim Beatty
