An immature Surf Scoter was in the marina lagoon at Boyd Lake State Park in Larimer County (just northeast of Loveland) at dusk. Good news is that it was very close to shore at the Mariner Picnic Area (just north of the Marina). No telescope needed (yeahhh!). Bad news is that without a state parks pass, entry fee is $8, and they patrol constantly. A photo is posted online at http://www.pbase.com/quetzal/susc10252011.
