I agree that the chances of a Rufous-collared Sparrow arriving in Colorado without human assistance is extremely unlikely. But, here is a plausible explanation of how one of these guys may have made the journey. On February, 16, 2011, a chartered DC-10 cargo aircraft carrying 25 lions rescued from Bolivian circuses arrived at Denver International Airport. I think it's possible a Rufous-collared Sparrow may have flown through one of the large cargo loading doors in Bolivia, then traveled as a stow-away to Denver. There are no regularly scheduled commercial flights originating south of Mexico direct into Denver, so the charter makes some sense. Here's a link to the lion story: http://www.wildanimalsanctuary.org/news/bolivianlionrescue/bolivianlionrescue.html Just a thought... Keith Alderman Frederick, CO
