I agree that the chances of a Rufous-collared Sparrow arriving in Colorado 
without human assistance is extremely unlikely.  But, here is a plausible 
explanation of how one of these guys may have made the journey.  On February, 
16, 2011, a chartered DC-10 cargo aircraft carrying 25 lions rescued from 
Bolivian circuses arrived at Denver International Airport.  I think it's 
possible a Rufous-collared Sparrow may have flown through one of the large 
cargo loading doors in Bolivia, then traveled as a stow-away to Denver.  There 
are no regularly scheduled commercial flights originating south of Mexico 
direct into Denver, so the charter makes some sense.
