Another day that was slow in terms of numbers, but we did have a few colorful firsts of the year to brighten things up, including a Black-headed Grosbeak, Brown Thrasher and gorgeous male Western Tanager. Our only recapture was an American Robin first banded in 2018 and caught every year since. Here are the totals, 9 birds of 6 species:
Lincoln's Sparrow - 1 Hermit Thrush - 1 Western Tanager - 1 Black-headed Grosbeak - 1 Brown Thrasher - 3 American Robin - 1 new and 1 recapture from 2018 Tomorrow we'll be participating in the inaugural Colorado Birding Challenge, starting at the Chico Banding Station before venturing out to other parts of El Paso County as a 'non-competing' team (so we can count our banded birds!).
