Hi all,

Yesterday was a red letter day for long-billed curlews out on the Pawnee
Grassland. I saw 4 flocks of long-billed curlews, 24, 19, 14, and 11 birds
in each flock. Most were seen in the vicinity of the intersection of Weld
County Roads 55 and 120. Also seen at this location were 6 mountain
plovers. The last flock of curlews was seen in Murphy's Pasture. In
addition to the curlews and plovers, I saw:

1 rock wren at the intersection of Weld County Road 45 and 114
1 golden eagle along WCR 114 about 3 mi. east of U.S. 85
4 Swainson's hawks along WCR 45 1 mile north of the intersection of WCR 45
and 114
McCown's longspurs nearly everywhere
2 Say's phoebes at the intersection of US Forest Service Roads 69 and 110
1 sage thrasher at Murphy's Pasture
Numerous clay-colored and Brewer's sparrows, especially along USFS Road 96
that transects Murphy's pasture.
